About Us

Our History
Our Past
With support from the ARC of Lane County and funding from John Alvord, we opened our first group home in 1970. By 1974, Alvord-Taylor had officially incorporated as a nonprofit, dedicated to providing community-based support. When Oregon closed the Fairview Institution in 2000, we were proud to be among the organizations offering individuals a better alternative—housing and support in a community setting.
Since then, Oregon has moved entirely away from institutional care, and we’ve continued our mission of empowering individuals to live fulfilling, independent lives. We remain committed to innovation, advocacy, and creating a truly inclusive community for all.
About Us
Our Present
Beyond our residential services, we support approximately twenty-five individuals in their own homes, ensuring they receive the assistance they need while maintaining their preferred lifestyle. Every individual we serve has the opportunity to participate in community inclusion programs, helping them engage in meaningful activities, events, and experiences that align with their interests and goals.
We take a person-centered approach, tailoring support services to fit each individual’s unique needs. Whether in a group home or independent living, our mission remains the same—to foster independence, connection, and a fulfilling quality of life for all.

Our Goal
Our Future
As we grow, we will seek new ways to empower individuals, foster independence, and strengthen community connections. By adapting, innovating, and advocating, we ensure that the people we support have access to meaningful opportunities, the highest quality of care, and a future filled with dignity, inclusion, and possibility.
